1. Send email to mike@assignofficial.com with first and last name, email address that you use for assigning, sport/s that you are interested in officiating, and your level of experience in each sport.

3. Follow the directions on the AO/Arbiter Welcome Email.

With the likelihood of gaining in game counts this winter and spring, and the possibility of other sports being added, AO is recruiting a reserve of officials, umpires, judges, etc. of (nearly) all sports.

AO is recruiting sports officials for winter and spring season sports in the Redding, Anderson, Red Bluff, and surrounding NorCal areas for games as far north as the Oregon border, west to Weaverville, east to Susanville, and south to Red Bluff.

Please email mike@assignofficial.com if you are interested, and (if you haven't received a card or been recommended by a fellow member or coach/AD) include the sports that you are interested in officiating, your level of experience, and a couple of officiating references.

If you are interested but have no experience officiating, there are opportunities throughout the year to gain in experience.

This is a great opportunity for all, ages 13 and up, to work as a part time independent contractor, to gain in exercise, gain in camaraderie, and to provide a valuable service for your community.

Mostly in demand for the upcoming winter and spring seasons is soccer refs. Other AO sports officials that may be needed throughout the year include volley ball, basketball, baseball, softball, and flag football.

* Winter high school soccer games have been added and games run December through mid February (playoffs are in late February).
* The next junior high season starts mid January through late February.
* Rec games in Trinity should begin mid to late March.
* More info on games, meetings, online forms, and trainings is available to AO Members at the AO/Arbiter DASHBOARD and in emails, but is not normally posted on this public site.
* New AO Members: Please become familiar with the AO at Arbiter assigning site, especially the SCHEDULE page. That is the page that is used the most. Most other info that you may need can be found on the AO/Arbiter DASHBOARD page.

ATTN: AO MEETINGS:
AO meetings are generally for AO Members only and are held seasonally.
The exceptions are:
1. Unless a prospective AO official has received an AO card and been invited or informed verbally, by text, or by email.
2.Unless a prospective AO official has been invited or informed by a current AO Member or AO Contact Person (Coach/AD/etc), with AO approval.
3. Unless a prospective AO official has heard of one of the meetings through other sources and communicated with Mike@AssignOfficial.com.
4. Parents/Guardians of AO minor members are welcome to all AO meetings, events, etc.
We recently had a fall meeting. The winter meeting will likely be late February or March.
We also have small group Game Watches valued at instructional hours measured by ranking points, and some individual on-game training for assessing and advancement purposes.

For fiscal 2025/26:
AssignOfficial (AO) has recruited and retained, over the years, many AO, USSF, NSCIF, NFHS, WCISOA, NISOA, UPSL, League for Clubs, elementary, junior high, high school, and college student soccer officials, plus has a few new recruits, and is still recruiting.

If you are interested in becoming an AO soccer referee (and other sports) please contact AO via email. Training is available for advancement for all levels of experience.

For all ages (basically 13 and up) that would like to referee high school, junior high, 4th/5th grade, in-house U6/8/10 soccer, training can be arranged.

AO is open to assigning officials for other sports also, as long as there is access to a starting pool of refs, umpires, judges, officials, etc, in existence for those sports.

AO is also willing to assist other area assignors with software scheduling, billing, payments, 1099s, email game reminders, etc.

AssignOfficial (aka AO) is a sports and events officials assigning program currently assigning soccer referees in the inland northern California area.

AO had a very successful (2023/24) late summer, fall, and winter season assigning soccer referees for TYSL, NVAC, NCAL, EWL, the UPrep Tournament, EESD, and for the Jr High Girls Winter League and Tournament.

Among those leagues and teams, added to the AO schedule for the 2024/25 seasons were high school teams from the SCL, EAL, NAL, and MVL, and several junior high school teams.

2025/26 is starting off with added teams, adding an increase in game counts.

It is expected that the leagues and teams that AO assigns for will further increase for the 2026/27 seasons, therefore, AO is continuing recruiting sports officials.

AO is also available to be of assistance in assigning officials in other sports, events, and in other areas, and working with sub-assignors too. AO is also interested in starting a reserve of officials in other sports, as AO has had to turn down a few of those other sports requests due to a lack of officials outside of soccer.


AO can be used to assign sports officials to sporting events and can take care of:

1. Assigning officials,

2. Billing sponsors/leagues/schools/event holders, etc,

3. Making payments and supplying1099s for officials,

or any combination of those.
