Welcome to AssignOfficial:
(NOTE: This is the public AO DASHBOARD page, not the AO Member or Contacts DASHBOARD page, which AO Members and Contacts can view at their AO/Arbiter site account).

Officials:
If you are a new Referee Member to AssignOfficial, and you are ready to officiate: Please click on the "DASHBOARD" link at AO/ArbiterSports and be sure that the "Ready To Be Assigned" or "AO" check-box there is checked and update your Profile. You will then be available to be assigned to games, view the referee Self-Assignable games, view the master game schedule, view sites, view contacts, etc. You can also add schedule blocks and update your profile.

Contacts:
If you are a new Contact Member to AssignOfficial, you can view game schedules, referee status on upcoming games, modified game rules and agreements, team sites, and update your profile.

Arbiter and/or RefTown

AO Members and Contacts: Be sure to check ArbiterSports and/or RefTown for recent updates as they are sometimes posted and/or updated there first.

Liability Insurance for AssignOfficial Officials:
AO is currently working a plan paying AOA liability insurance for all active AO youth referees:
For youths preferring the NFHS Membership insurance AO will pay aprx 3/4 (3/5 w/NFHS Network) of it and instructions would be provided (for the NFHS Membership there is an option to buy an NFHS Network subscription at a discount).
Follow the simple instructions and just simply stop when you get to the "Pay" part. AO will then make the payment up-front for you. Adult refs can have either insurance and AO can get it for you the same way and it can be refunded to AO through pay deduct.

Reporting Games on Arbiter:
Please report scores after your game:
(These directions are for computer/web. I'm not sure about cell phones/app).
On Arbiter, go to the "SCHEDULE" Page.
On the left side of the Game row, click on the blue vertical rectangular "Create Report" icon (the horizontal rectangular icon is for notes).
Enter score.
Mark ref/s as "On Time", "Late", or "No Show" (please only mark ref/s Late if you had to start a game without them and they later showed. Try to be flexible as red lights do happen).
Add comments if necessary ("All's well" comments are good also).
Click "Save".
When you add a score, that "Create Report" icon should turn amber.
When you add a comment, that "Create Report" icon should turn amber.
If it stays blue, then you probably forgot to click "Save".
Please do this as it confirms the score and ref/s, and is a step in verifying the game.

Become a USSF Soccer Referee:
Becoming a USSF soccer referee can be achieved by taking an online course, then following up with a field course.
The online course must be taken first. You can take it anytime, and once passed, all you have to do is attend and pass a field course.
Redding area field courses are usually held in January or February, and in August. There are also field courses throughout northern California to choose from almost all times of the year.
There is a fee of around $75. There is a background check for adults which costs around $30. The online portion needs to be renewed yearly.
You can find more info here: https://www.cnra.net/
From that link:
Hover over Referees > New Referee > Become a Referee.
Follow instructions from there.

First-Time U6/8/10 Soccer Referees:

For U6/8 Referee:
* Essential Items: paper, pen, whistle, watch, flipping coin.
* Just before the game have team captains join you at the center line of the field for the coin toss. The visiting team picks heads or tails.
* The winner of the coin toss chooses either the ball, or which side of the field they want.
* Start play in the middle of the field with the team that chose the ball at the coin toss by blowing the whistle when everyone is ready.
* Stay mostly in middle area of field moving along with players playing the ball.
* When ball goes out completely over the touch line: restart with a throw-in for the team that did not last touch the ball.
* When ball goes out completely over the goal line, but not in the goal: restart with a goal kick (if last touched by attacking team) or a corner kick (if last touched by defending team).
* When ball goes completely over the goal line into the goal: record a goal and restart with a kickoff in the center of the field for the team that did not score.
* If players continue to play the ball after it goes out, use your whistle to stop play.
* U6 plays four 6-minute quarters.
* U8 plays two 20-minute halves.
* Keep track of time and blow the whistle after each quarter/half.

For U10:
* Essential Items: paper, pen, whistle, watch, flipping coin, flags.
* Basically the same as U6/8 except you'll have Assistant Referees (AR1 and AR2), call offside, use AR flags, play 25-minute halves.

All in all: Safety is always most important.
